  • Checkatrade: bed bug treatment cost (updated May 2026, UK): inspection about £60; steam £450; heat with insecticide about £1,000.
  • A London bed bug firm's published price list for steam and spray (2026): £320 to £420 depending on bedrooms, plus a £30 congestion zone surcharge.
  • Council charges: Hounslow Council (from 1 April 2026) and Haringey Council (from 1 April 2025). The TfL Congestion Charge is £15 a day.

These sources differ in places, and fewer of them cover four and five bedrooms, so use every figure here for budgeting only. None of the firms or councils above is connected with this site.

Price questions

How much does bed bug treatment cost in London?

For a studio or one-bed flat, spray or steam treatment is usually £300 to £550 for the course of visits, and heat treatment £750 to £1,300. A three-bed home runs £360 to £700 with spray and £1,200 to £2,000 with heat.

Why is London dearer than the rest of the UK?

Travel time, parking and congestion charges, and higher wages. The Fantastic Services guide puts London and the South East roughly 10 to 20% above the rest of the country.

Is the council cheaper?

Often, if your council still offers it. Hounslow Council charges £300 (from 1 April 2026); Haringey Council charges £360 (from 1 April 2025). Council treatments are insecticide over two visits. Not every borough offers bed bug treatment, so check your council's website.

Why do some firms advertise from £200?

A "from" price is usually one visit to one room. Most bed bug jobs need two or three visits, and more than one room. Ask for the total, the number of visits and what happens if bites continue.

Does the price include VAT?

It varies: some guides quote with VAT, some without, and a small firm may not charge it at all. Ask every firm so the quotes line up.

Is it cheaper to treat one room?

Sometimes, when an inspection shows the bugs really are confined to one room. Treating one room and missing the next can mean paying twice.

Turn the estimate into a fixed price

Three short steps: your postcode, the property, then how to reach you. The more the specialist knows about the building, the closer the first price will be.
